The County

After a 6 month delay we finally managed to move in to our new 'villa' (aka townhome) in March.  Our new home is located in Prince Edward County (fondly known as simply 'The County').  The County is known for its' vineyards, craft breweries, art galleries, restaurants, boutique shops, orchards, artisan cheese, quaint Inns and also for a couple of cooking schools.

After spending several weeks unpacking, cleaning and getting settled, I decided it might be time to explore part of what The County has to offer.  I did some research and decided to enroll in a couple of cooking classes.

From The Farm Cooking School

I came across the website for From The Farm Cooking School located in Ameliasburg, not far from our home in Wellington.  The small classes are held in Chef Cynthia Peter's 1830's farmhouse.   The classes cover Cynthia's spin on a wide range of international flavours, from traditional, vegan, Italian, Thai to Vietnamese street food. I decided to select the Thai course and definitely did not regret my choice.  Over the course of four hours we managed to prepare a full Thai meal, complete with Thai Chicken spring rolls with both a traditional Thai dipping sauce along with an amazing peanut sauce, sticky rice, Panang curry with velvet chicken, a mango & red pepper salad and probably the best shrimp Pad Thai I have ever eaten.  All of this washed down with local wines from The County.  An enjoyable and educational day. I will definitely return.
